RAWALPINDI: France’s Secretary General for Defence and National Security Nicolas Roche met Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir at General Headquarters (GHQ) on Tuesday.
French Ambassador to Pakistan Jean-Noël Poirier also attended the meeting.
According to an official statement, the discussions covered matters of mutual interest, with particular focus on regional security and cooperation between Pakistan and France in defence and security-related fields.
Field Marshal Asim Munir expressed Pakistan’s desire to further strengthen its relations with France and expand bilateral cooperation in defence and security.
Roche appreciated Pakistan’s efforts aimed at promoting peace and stability in the region.
The French official also expressed Paris’s interest in broadening cooperation with Pakistan across areas of shared interest, the statement added.
