PESHAWAR: A 17-year-old pregnant girl was allegedly murdered in what police are investigating as an honour-related killing, with her body later found hanging from a tree along Danish Abad Road.
The incident came to light after footage showing the victim’s body suspended from the tree circulated on social media, triggering public outrage and calls for action against those responsible.
According to the First Information Report (FIR) registered at Town Police Station, the victim’s father reported the incident to police. The FIR alleges that the girl was killed to prevent what the family viewed as disgrace linked to an alleged relationship.
Police have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the teenager’s death and are examining the allegations contained in the FIR.
Authorities are also looking into the circumstances under which the body was left hanging from the tree and whether other individuals were involved in the alleged killing.
The case has sparked widespread concern, with the circulation of the footage further intensifying public attention on violence against women and girls.
Police officials said further action would be taken as the investigation progresses.
