ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has welcomed the latest improvement in key economic indicators, saying the rise in remittances reflects growing confidence among overseas Pakistanis in the country’s economy.
In a statement issued after the release of the monthly economic outlook, the prime minister highlighted the notable increase in workers’ remittances during the first two months of the current fiscal year.
He said remittances rose from $6.3 billion in July and August to more than $7.3 billion, while the 16.5% year-on-year growth recorded in August was particularly encouraging.
Prime Minister Shehbaz described overseas Pakistanis as an important national asset, saying their hard-earned money plays a significant role in supporting the country’s economy.
He welcomed the positive trend in remittances and expressed hope that continued improvement in economic indicators would further strengthen economic stability.
