LHC revises judges’ seniority list after Justice Raheel Kamran’s resignation

LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) has issued an updated seniority list of its judges following the resignation of Justice Raheel Kamran, bringing the number of serving judges down to 48.

Under the revised list, Chief Justice Aalia Neelum and 25 other judges have retained their earlier positions, while 22 judges have moved up one place in the seniority order. The number of vacant judges’ seats has consequently risen to 12.

Justice Abid Aziz Sheikh continues to hold the second position, followed by Justice Sadaqat Ali Khan at third and Justice Syed Shahbaz Ali Rizvi at fourth. Justice Faisal Zaman Khan is ranked fifth, with Justice Mirza Waqas Rauf sixth and Justice Chaudhry Muhammad Iqbal seventh.

Justice Shahram Sarwar Chaudhry occupies the eighth position, followed by Justice Muhammad Sajid Mahmood Sethi at ninth and Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani at tenth.

Further down the revised list, Justice Hassan Nawaz Makhdoom is ranked 27th, Justice Waqar Haider Awan 28th, Justice Sardar Akbar Ali 29th, Justice Ahsan Raza Kazmi 30th and Justice Malik Javed Iqbal Vance 31st.

Justice Javed Zafar stands at 32nd, followed by Justice Khalid Ishaq at 33rd, Justice Malik Muhammad Owais Khalid at 34th and Justice Chaudhry Sultan Mahmood at 35th.

Justice Tanveer Ahmad Sheikh is placed 36th, Justice Tariq Mahmood Bajwa 37th, Justice Abhar Gul Khan 38th, Justice Ghulam Sarwar Nahung 39th, Justice Muhammad Ajmal Khan Zahid 40th and Justice Ameer Ajum Malik 41st.

The remaining positions are held by Justice Shireen Imran at 42nd, Justice Asad Ali Bajwa at 43rd, Justice Muhammad Amjad Parvez at 44th, Justice Khalid Ibn Aziz at 45th, Justice Munawar Iqbal Dogal at 46th, Justice Syed Farhad Ali Shah at 47th and Justice Usman Ghani Rashid Cheema at 48th.
