ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan has said that meaningful political dialogue cannot be built on hollow offers and slogans, stressing the need for practical steps to resolve the ongoing political crisis.
Speaking to the media outside the Islamabad High Court on Thursday, Gohar questioned the circumstances surrounding previous negotiations, saying his party had lost its government while talks were underway.
He also questioned why negotiations were abandoned if a deadlock emerged, arguing that dialogue should continue through political engagement rather than being brought to an abrupt end.
The PTI chairman maintained that the situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa did not warrant the imposition of an emergency or Governor’s Rule.
Gohar further disclosed that PTI had not been in contact with KP Chief Minister Sohail Afridi since October 11. He claimed that Afridi was facing baseless cases and said the party had also been unable to establish contact with its provincial lawmakers and the speaker of the KP Assembly.
Describing the situation as serious, the PTI leader called for concrete measures to address the political impasse and resolve the issues facing the province.
