ISLAMABAD: Former Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader and Senator Faisal Vawda has claimed that PTI leader Murad Saeed is currently in Afghanistan and is directing Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi from there.
Vawda said he had received information indicating that Saeed was present in Afghanistan.
Vawda also recalled his prediction made 10 months ago that an emergency would be imposed and governor’s rule introduced in the country. He further predicted that former KP chief minister Sohail Afridi could face disqualification and that the PTI might be banned.
Referring to the political developments as part of efforts to tackle terrorism, Vawda said the Balochistan provincial government was cooperating in the fight against militancy despite its shortcomings.
Criticising the political system, he questioned whether it truly represented democracy when political power remained concentrated among a small group of around 500 elites. He called for greater opportunities for new faces to enter politics.
Vawda also accused the PTI of continuing what he described as a political culture marked by abusive language and arson.
Commenting on the situation in KP, the senator said Governor Faisal Karim Kundi had 180 days to demonstrate progress and that his performance would be monitored during this period. He added that there was no room for failure.
Vawda said that if the advisory council delivered results within the stipulated 180 days, the public could turn away from the existing political leadership and seek alternative representatives.
