The Election Commission of Pakistan has barred PTI leader Ali Amin Gandapur from addressing public rallies.
In a reserved verdict announced on Monday, the electoral body said Ali won’t be allowed to participate in any political campaigns or activities. He will, however, be allowed to return to his hometown.
Last week, ECP has ordered the federal minister for Kashmir affairs and Gilgit-Baltistan to be deported from Dera Ismail Khan for violating Section 181 (drawing of lots) of the Election Act 2017.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chief secretary and IG police were directed to implement the orders.
On December 5, a fine of Rs50,000 was imposed on Gandapur as well for violating the election code of conduct by participating in a campaign and announcing development schemes during the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa local body elections.
Meanwhile, his brother, Umar Amin, has been disqualified from contesting for the Dera Ismail Khan mayor polls in the upcoming second phase of local government polls scheduled on March 27.
In the second phase, 18 KP districts will go to the polls.
