Fed Govt submits reply in SC on its Aug 3 order over civilians trials in military courts on May 9 Mayhem

Islamabad: The federal government has submitted a written response on the civilians trials in the military courts over May 9 mayhem while the Supreme Court (SC) larger bench comprising five judges will hear the case tomorrow (Monday).

The federal government has apprised the SC that trials of civilians involved in May 9 mayhem has started.

As per the government response the for the protection of the accused it is neccesary to conduct trial and come to conclusion from the trials so that the accused who are not involved be freed.

The government has submitted the written anwers on the SC August 3 order in which the federal government has said that the accused trials will conitioned to the results of the SC action.

The court has been told in the written reply that as a whole 102 people have been taken into custody on the allegations of invovlment in the attacking the military installments.

A details regarding to the accused have also been stated in the written reply. As per the reply content the accused in the custody are involved in the attack on General Headquarter, Rawalpindi, GHQ, Corps Commander House, Lahore, PAF base Mianwali, ISI establishment civil lions Faisalabad, Sialkot cantt, ISI establishment Hamza camp Rawalpindi, Bannu cantt, Gunjranwala cantt.

The federal government in its answer informed that the accused have been taken into custody under the Pakistan Army Act 1952.

A larger bench of the SC headed by Justice Aijaz Ul Ahasan comprising Justice Munib Akhtar, Justice Yahya Afridi, Justice Sayyed Mazahar Ali Akbar Naqvi, and Justice Ayesha Malik, will hear the petitions against the trials of the accused in the military courts.
