KARACHI: The Sindh government has rolled out a new facial recognition-based attendance system for teachers and staff in public schools, aiming to enhance attendance accuracy while functioning offline if needed. The initiative, named Facial Recognition Attendance Monitoring and Evaluation System (FRAMES), is part of efforts to strengthen accountability in education institutions.
According to Sindh’s Education Minister Sardar Ali Shah, the pilot phase commenced on August 18, 2026, across six districts—Karachi East, Hyderabad, Naushahro Feroze, Jacobabad, Ghotki, and Umerkot—covering a total of nearly 50,000 staff members. The system’s design allows attendance to be recorded even during internet outages, ensuring uninterrupted monitoring.
Shah highlighted that FRAMES aims beyond mere attendance tracking, emphasizing its role in improving the overall quality of education by ensuring that teachers and staff are consistently present and available in schools.
