RAWALPINDI: Authorities at Adiala Jail have not yet received a formal written directive regarding the proposed transfer of Imran Khan, the leader of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), from prison to a private hospital in Islamabad.
Sources indicate that arrangements for the transfer will be initiated once the official documentation is received by the jail management in Rawalpindi. To facilitate the move, the private hospital must be designated as a sub-jail, a decision that would enable Imran Khan to stay under jail custody while receiving medical treatment there.
If granted sub-jail status, approximately 20 prison staff members from Adiala would accompany Imran Khan, including a deputy superintendent, two assistant superintendents, a cook, and other personnel. Despite being transferred to the hospital, Imran Khan would remain under jail custody.
Security for the transfer would be coordinated by district police, with jail security personnel managing inside the hospital premises—specifically within the ward or room designated for him. Outer security would fall under the jurisdiction of Islamabad Police.
During his hospital stay, the regulations outlined in the jail manual would continue to be applicable to Imran Khan. Authorities mentioned that further logistical arrangements will be finalized once the written order from the relevant authorities is officially received by the Adiala Jail administration.
