Islamabad: The Pakistan Cricket Board appointed former international fast bowler Wahab Riaz as the head of the selection committee.
Former Pakistan cricket team fast bowler Wahab Riaz has been appointed as the chief selector of the selection committee of the national men’s cricket team.
Wahab Riaz’s first assignment will be to select the Pakistan team for the 3-Test series in Australia from December 14 to January 7 and the five-match T20I series in New Zealand from January 12 to 21.
Wahab Riaz will replace Inzamam-ul-Haq, who stepped down from the chief selector’s position amid allegations of a conflict of interest during the Cricket World Cup.
Wahab Riaz started his international career in 2008 and took a total of 237 wickets and scored 1200 runs in 27 Tests, 91 ODIs and 36 Twenty20 Internationals. He played three World Cups and was Pakistan’s second most successful bowler with 35 wickets in competitions. According to the Pakistan Cricket Board, Wahab Riaz said that it is an honor for him to become the head of the national selection committee. He thanked Pakistan Cricket Board Management Committee Chairman Zaka Ashraf for trusting him with this responsibility.
