Lahore: The newly elected members of the Punjab Assembly took oath in Lahore today.
Speaker Sibtain Khan administered the oath.
Felicitating the newly elected members, the Speaker expressed the hope that they would come up to the expectations of the masses.
PML-N has nominated Maryam Nawaz as its candidate for Chief Minister slot while Mian Aslam Iqbal is the candidate of independent candidates backed by PTI and Sunni Itehad Council.
Earlier an inaugral session of PA commenced.
Pakistan Muslim Leauge-Nawaz (PML-N) nominated Chief Minister (CM) Maryam Nawaz is also attending the session.
After inclusion of 22-independents candidates in the PML-N has 159 general seats.The numbers of the PML-N members after getting 41 special seats have reached 200 seats.
For the elections of leader of the Punjab Assembly needed simple majority of 186 members. The PML-N has claimed having numbers completed for formation of the provincial government.
The elections of chief minister Punjab, Speaker and Deputy Speaker Punjab Assembly will be held tomorrow.
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) nominated cheif minister Aslam Iqbal, newly elected members of Sunni Ittehad Council are also participating in the session.
As many as PTI backed 116 independent candidates have joined the Sunni Ittehad Council SIC.
