KARACHI: Sindh Inspector General of Police Javed Alam Odho has revealed that several prominent and influential individuals have surfaced in connection with drug use cases.
While speaking to the media, the IG said Sindh Police are continuing operations against narcotics trafficking and have recently seized methamphetamine (ice), heroin, and cannabis during various raids.
He emphasised that protecting the youth from the dangers of drugs remains a top priority and warned that those involved in narcotics distribution would face strict action.
Discussing the case of a woman identified as Anmol, also known as “Pinky,” the IG stated that she mostly stayed in Lahore and was apprehended with great difficulty after arriving in Karachi.
Javed Alam Odho urged the public not to glorify the accused or treat her as a celebrity figure. He stressed that every household has children and society must work together to ensure that “no one turns into another Pinky.”
The IG further warned that any negligence by police officers would result in strict disciplinary measures and added that accountability should exist across all institutions.
According to him, the nature of the suspect’s alleged activities is so serious that many people are hesitant even to be linked with her name. He also indicated that the accused could face threats from different groups.
He concluded by saying that more details are expected to emerge as the investigation progresses, adding that authorities are focused not only on protecting society but also on ensuring the safety of the accused herself.
