Basant 2026; kite, string sales hit Rs340m in just two days

LAHORE: The arrival of Basant has infused Lahore with a vibrant festive energy, driving a thriving surge in business as kite sellers reported remarkable sales figures within just two days. Data indicates that trade associated with kite flying peaked at an impressive Rs 340 million, setting unprecedented benchmarks in the city.

As the Basant celebrations kicked off, marketplaces experienced a dramatic spike in demand for kites, strings, and pinoki. The Kite Flying Association shared sales data highlighting an extraordinary level of activity during the initial days of festivities.

According to the association, the city’s markets were abuzz with uninterrupted purchases as people eagerly prepared to honor the traditional spring festival.

The Kite Flying Association revealed that transactions involving kites, strings, and pinoki amounted to Rs 340 million over just 48 hours. The first day’s sales alone reached Rs 160 million, while the second day witnessed an even greater turnover of Rs 180 million.

These astounding figures mark one of the most robust beginnings to Basant in recent years, reflecting the enthusiasm of both traders and festival-goers.

Traders are optimistic that this dynamic start hints at continued robust business if the celebratory fervor persists throughout the rest of the season.
