Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf visits US, strengthens maritime security

ISLAMABAD: Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf visited the United States, where he engaged with senior officials from the US Navy, Coast Guard, and Department of State to explore avenues for maritime cooperation, regional security, and defence partnerships, emphasizing the robust ties between the navies of Pakistan and the United States.

During his visit, Admiral Ashraf met with Vice Admiral Peter A. Garvin, President of the US National Defense University, where discussions revolved around shared professional interests such as regional stability, advanced training programs, and fortifying maritime collaboration between the two nations.

The naval chief also held talks with Stanley L. Brown, Deputy Assistant Secretary of Political and Military Affairs at the US Department of State, focusing on defence cooperation and regional maritime strategies.

In addition, Admiral Ashraf addressed an audience of American academics and think tank representatives, showcasing the Pakistan Navy’s role in promoting regional maritime security and its dedication to collaborative initiatives aimed at fostering peace and stability in the region.
