LAHORE: Today marks the 34th anniversary of the passing of renowned Urdu poet Akhtar Hussain Jafri. The occasion is being observed with respect and reverence.
Born on August 15, 1932, in the Hoshiarpur district of India, Akhtar Hussain Jafri made significant contributions to Urdu literature. His notable poetry collections include *”Aina Khana”* and *”Jahan Darya Utarta Hai.”*
In recognition of his literary achievements, the Government of Pakistan honored him with the Presidential Medal for Excellence in 2002. Jafri passed away in Lahore on this day in 1992.
