Dozens of Pakistanis still missing in Greece boat accident, Pakistani ambassador

Athens: Pakistani Ambassador to Greece, Amir Aftab Qureshi, has said that dozens of Pakistanis are still missing in the boat accident, whose chances of survival are very low, while the embassy will send the bodies of the dead Pakistani’s to Pakistan at its own expense.

Talking to the media in Greece, the Pakistani ambassador said that the boat accident happened due to overcrowding.There were Pakistanis on board 5 boats that went illegally from Libya, the boat they were on had no proper engine, no walkie-talkie and no driver, while there were Pakistani children in the affected boats.

He said, childrens are being sent out on their own which is a serious problem, parents are requested not to send their childrens on such dangerous journey.

Pakistani ambassador said, there were more than 80 Pakistani’s on the boat, how sad that these people drowned in the deep sea at an unknown place, while the bodies of the Pakistanis who died in the accident will be sent to Pakistan at its own expense.

Dozens of Pakistanis are still missing in the accident, including young children. Rescue operation is going on at the accident site, but there is little hope of survival of the missing persons, said Amir Aftab Qureshi

He further said, committee formed in this regard has been instructed to submit a report to the Prime Minister, and those who are involved in this scandalous business should be held accountable.
