Electricity Being Restored In Punjab, KP & Islamabad: Leghari

Islamabad(May  16, 2018): Minister for Power Awais Leghari has said that electricity is being restored to the system after certain power plants tripped off in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Speaking in the National Assembly about the blackout that hit certain parts of the country, the minister said the situation has been normalized in the federal capital. However, it will take a bit time to fully restore the power system.

He said an inquiry will also be conducted to assertion the facts of the blackout.

Earlier today,  a technical flaw at the Tarbela power plant derived in the breakdown of electricity in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

According to the power plant officials, the sudden blackout due to technical difficulties is affecting Lahore, Multan, Bahawalpur along with other cities in Punjab.

The breakdown is also affecting several cities in KP as well, including Peshawar, Swat and Lakki Marwat.

Efforts are also being made to restore the supply of electricity to Islamabad.

The spokesman said the South system is working and there is no supply failure to Sindh and Balochistan.

He said Ghazi Barotha has been synchronized and connected to the national grid.
