ISLAMABAD: The funeral prayer for seven-year-old Irtaza Abbas Turi, son of Lieutenant Colonel Zaheer Abbas Turi, who was martyred in Dawarandi, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, due to unprovoked Indian cross-border attack, was held in Islamabad on Wednesday.
The funeral was attended by prominent leaders including President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif, and Information Minister.
Senior military officials, Chief of Army Staff Gen Asim Munir, Admiral Naveed Ashraf, and other high-ranking officers, along with government officials, soldiers, and family members of the martyr, participated in the prayer.
In his address after the funeral, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif strongly condemned India’s unprovoked aggression, describing the deliberate targeting of innocent civilians—children, women, and the elderly—as a shameful act of cowardice.
