KARACHI: Gold prices recorded a massive increase in Pakistan on Thursday, August 20, as a sharp surge in international bullion rates pushed local prices significantly higher.
According to the All Pakistan Sarafa Gems and Jewellers Association, the price of 24-karat gold jumped by Rs13,700 per tola, reaching Rs471,936, compared with Rs458,236 in the previous trading session.
Similarly, the price of 24-karat gold per 10 grams increased by Rs11,746 to Rs404,609.
In the international market, gold gained $137 per ounce to reach $4,495, providing a strong boost to local bullion prices.
Silver prices also moved sharply upward in Pakistan, with the per-tola rate rising by Rs369 to Rs7,169, compared with Rs6,800 previously.
