 Govt collects Rs.107.12 P/L tax on petrol, duties and margins

WEB DESK: Details of taxes, duties, and margins on petroleum products have been revealed for consumers. According to report available a total of Rs.107.12 are being collected on one liter of petrol in taxes, duties, and margins, while the ex-refinery price of petrol before duties is Rs.148.51 per liter.

The Report states that on one liter of high-speed diesel, Rs.104.59 are being collected in taxes, duties, and margins, with the ex-refinery price of high-speed diesel being Rs.154.6 per liter.

According to the document, a levy of Rs.70  per liter is imposed on both petrol and high-speed diesel. For petrol, there is a customs duty of Rs.15.28 paisa per liter, and for high-speed diesel, the customs duty is Rs.15, 78 paisa per liter.

The document further reveals that a dealer commission of Rs.8 and 64 paisa per liter is being taken on both petrol and high-speed diesel. The margin for oil marketing companies is Rs.87 paisa per liter for both products.

The document also specifies that an inland freight equalization margin of Rs.5.33 is included in the price of one liter of petrol, and Rs.2.3 are added for high-speed diesel.

According to the lawyer, no sales tax is currently being collected on petrol and diesel. The price for consumers is set at Rs.255.63 paisa per liter for petrol, and 258 rupees and 64 paisa per liter for high-speed diesel.
