Islamabad: The government had deliberated upon providing relief to masses in the electricity bills across the country.
The Ministries of finance and energy have suggested the government to pay all due amount to International Power Producers (IPPs) in one go.
Through this measure the electricity prices will decline by Rs 5 per unit.
It is important to note that voices are echoed on hefty electricity bills by many quarters.
The Jamat-e-Islami (JI) has been staging sit-in for 10 days against heavy electricity bills and capacity charges payment to the IPPs.
The newly party established by former finance minister Miftah Ismael and ex-premier Shahid Khaqan Abbassi, Awam Pakistan has also staged protest against rising prices of electricity and heavy bills burden on the masses.
On the other hand, former interim federal minister Gohar Aijaz has also time and gain raised his voice against the electricity prices tax burdens.
