ISLAMABAD: Federal Government on Tuesday decided to take strict action against pharmaceutical companies over increasing drug prices.
Federal Minister for Health Amir Mahmood Kiyani has sought a detailed report from Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DRAP).
The minister also asked the DRAP to submit names of companies who increased drug prices while several options are under consideration regarding action against the pharmaceutical companies.
It is also under consideration to collect all additional amount from pharmaceutical companies if the increase in prices found to be illegal.
It is pertinent to mention here that the DRAP had increased prices of drugs from 9 to 15 percent on January 10 while drug companies increased prices more than the suggested percent.
