WEB DESK: A recent United Nations report has revealed that the rise in terrorist attacks in Pakistan is due to the continued financial and logistical support provided by the Afghan Taliban to the banned Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).
The report submitted to the UN Security Council states that the presence and strength of TTP in Afghanistan remain intact. In 2024, TTP carried out over 600 attacks in Pakistan. The Afghan Taliban are providing TTP with 43,000 dollars monthly.
The report also reveals that new training centers for TTP have been established in the Afghan provinces of Kunar, Nangarhar, Khost, and Paktika.
Additionally, the report highlights the alliance of the Balochistan Liberation Army’s Majeed Brigade with ISIS and the East Turkestan Islamic Movement, as well as the support it receives from Afghanistan.
It is worth noting that Pakistan has continuously urged the Afghan government to prevent the use of its territory against Pakistan by the Taliban. However, despite this, terrorists from the TTP continue to carry out attacks in Pakistan from the Afghan border, and Pakistan has provided evidence to the Afghan government of Afghan nationals being involved in terrorism within Pakistan.
