DUBAI: Before the Champions Trophy final, the Indian team held a training session at the ICC Academy in Dubai on Friday evening, after three days of rest.
Indian team’s key batsmen, Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill, and Virat Kohli, underwent long batting sessions, facing both spinners and pacers.
Hardik Pandya, KL Rahul, and Ravindra Jadeja, among other Indian batters, focused on playing long and high shots in the nets, practicing hitting the ball out of the ground.
On the other hand, Indian spinner Varun Chakravarthy spent more time on fielding practice, working on improving his skills in various fielding positions on the ground.
Before the practice session, Indian batting coach Sitanshu Kotak dismissed claims about the “one-venue advantage” for the team, saying, “There is no advantage in Dubai. If we perform well, we will win; if we play poorly, we will lose. Claiming an advantage in India’s win is baseless.”
The Indian team will have their final training session in Dubai on Saturday afternoon, from 2 to 5 pm.
Meanwhile, New Zealand players will practice on Saturday evening at the ICC Academy in Dubai to complete their preparations for the Champions Trophy final.
