TEHRAN: Iran’s Cyberspace Council has decided to lift the ban on the social networking platform WhatsApp.
According to a foreign news agency, Iranian media reports that the country’s Cyberspace Council, responsible for internet regulation, has today decided to remove the ban on WhatsApp.
Iran’s state news agency stated that the members of the Cyberspace Council unanimously voted in favor of lifting the ban on WhatsApp and Google Play.
The state agency further mentioned that this is the first step in the plan to remove these restrictions.
It is worth noting that WhatsApp has been banned in Iran for the past two years.
