WEB DESK: At least four people were killed in southern Lebanon after Israeli airstrikes targeted separate locations, according to the country’s health ministry, despite a recently extended ceasefire agreement in the ongoing conflict involving Israel and Hezbollah.
The ministry said the strikes hit a truck and a motorcycle in the town of Yohmor al-Shaqeef in the Nabatieh district, resulting in four fatalities.
This latest incident comes a day after similar attacks in southern areas including Wadi al-Hujair, Touline, Srifa, and Yater, which reportedly left six people dead.
Meanwhile, reports from Lebanon’s National News Agency indicated continued Israeli artillery fire across multiple southern regions, along with a powerful explosion in the town of Khiam near the border area, where widespread destruction has already been reported.
The Israeli military has reiterated warnings advising residents not to return to several southern villages located within a designated buffer zone inside Lebanese territory. It also claimed to have targeted Hezbollah rocket launch sites overnight.
The escalation occurs even as a ceasefire, initially introduced earlier this month and recently extended, remains in place.
However, tensions persist, with Hezbollah figures warning that continued strikes undermine the truce and reserving the right to respond to further attacks.
