Jamsheed Dasti Released from Jail on Bail

Sargodha (July 3, 2017): Member National Assembly (MNA) Jamshed Dasti was released from jail on Monday after the Anti-terrorism court (ATC) granted bail to him in provocative speech case against surety bonds worth Rs1 lac.

Upon his release, the lawmaker was warmly greeted by fervent aides and supporters who were present in large numbers outside the prison as they chanted slogans in his favour and distributed sweets.

Jamshed Dasti expressed that he is thankful to the chief justices of Supreme Court and Lahore High Court for taking suo motto of the matter.

“Mice and scorpions were hurled on him and compelled him to awake whole nights,” Dasti accused  talking to media, after getting release on bail.

He claimed that JIT was working on right track, however its members are being threaten like him. He further alleged that Rana Sanaullah and CM Punjab wanted to kill him in police encounter.

He asked, “Why was he brought to Sargodha Jail from Multan?” answering himself he blamed, “CM Punjab and Sanaullah have the intention to kill me in a police encounter.”

He alleged that he was moved here and there from one jail to another and  had produced him before magistrate at 2am in night.

“My release only became possible by the support of PTI, JI, PAT and media and lawyers,” he said adding that he was grateful of all who backed him.

On June 8, The dissident Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Leader and head of Awami Raj Party (ARP) Jamshed Dasti had arrested from Layyah for illegally stealing water.Police said that MNA Jamshed Dasti was arrested for releasing water in canal from Head Kalo work forcefully and illegally. He was warned few days ago for illegally opening Danga Canal.

It is worth mentioning here that Awami Raj party lawmaker breached the authority and forcibly opened a canal on May 28 after which irrigation department lodged a case against the MNA.

Chief Minister of Punjab (CM) Shehbaz Sharif and Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif also took notice of the incident and directed stern action against Dasti.Jamshed Dasti was later on remanded for six days to police custody on June 23.

The lawmaker alleged that he was being tortured and starved by police in Multan Central Jail.
