Mufti Taqi Usmani Urges Concrete Action for Palestine

ISLAMABAD: Renowned Islamic scholar Mufti Taqi Usmani has called for meaningful and tangible support for the oppressed people of Palestine, urging the Muslim world to move beyond symbolic gestures, resolutions, and conferences.

Speaking at a conference on Palestine in Islamabad, Mufti Usmani strongly condemned Israel’s relentless aggression against unarmed civilians in the Gaza Strip, describing it as a reign of terror. He called for a complete boycott of Israeli products, emphasizing that economic pressure can serve as an effective tool in resisting oppression.

At the same time, he stressed that protests must remain peaceful, in accordance with Islamic teachings. “Islam is a religion of peace not of chaos or destruction. Damaging property or harming others in a fit of emotion is not only counterproductive but also forbidden in Shariah,” he said, in a pointed reference to recent violent demonstrations against certain international food chains.

Mufti Usmani further stated that it is the religious and moral duty of the leaders of all Muslim countries to declare jihad—in its true and comprehensive sense against the tyranny of Israel. “It is time to move from words to action,” he asserted.

Reiterating Pakistan’s long-standing stance, he reminded the audience that Pakistan does not recognize Israel, and that Quaid-e-Azam, the founder of Pakistan, had declared it an illegal state. “There has been no change in Pakistan’s policy on Israel,” he affirmed.
