ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on Monday issued a strong condemnation following the tragic killing of a policeman by elements involved in the ongoing protests.
In a statement released by the PM Office Media Wing, the Prime Minister expressed his heartfelt condolences to the grieving family of Constable Mubashir Shaheed and prayed for his elevation in rank.
The Prime Minister called for the immediate identification of those responsible for this heinous act and vowed to bring them to justice. He also directed that the injured police officers, who were hurt by stone-pelting and other acts of violence instigated by the protestors, receive the best possible medical care.
Describing the attack on law enforcement personnel as utterly condemnable, the Prime Minister emphasized that the police were fulfilling their duty to maintain law and order when they came under assault. He pointed out that the same perpetrators responsible for the May 9 riots had returned to violent tactics, taking the life of 46-year-old Constable Mubashir and leaving his family devastated.
The Prime Minister paid tribute to the fallen constable, stating that the entire nation, including himself, mourned his loss. He further condemned those who, whenever the country moved forward in progress, resorted to violence, arson, and civil unrest.
Shehbaz Sharif underscored that Constable Mubashir had been martyred by a group that was opposed to the nation’s development. The Prime Minister reaffirmed that the actions of the so-called peaceful protestors, who harmed and killed policemen, were entirely reprehensible and would not be tolerated.
