LAHORE: Information Minister of Punjab Uzma Bukhari has said that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) is planning to stage May9 part II, Policeman killed by PTI protesters violent.
Punjab Information Minister Azma Bukhari has accused the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) of planning to incite violent protests similar to the May 9 unrest, following clashes between PTI supporters and “unarmed” policemen who were performing security duties during their much-publicized “final call” protest.
The PTI supporters are heading toward Islamabad at the behest of their imprisoned party leader, Imran Khan, to assemble at D-Chowk and remain there until their demands, including the release of their jailed former prime minister, are addressed.
Bukhari claimed, “They want a repeat of May 9,” speaking at a hastily organized press conference in Lahore on Monday. She added that during the protests, a police constable tragically lost his life, and nearly 70 others were injured, including five officers in critical condition. She further alleged that PTI’s “Youth Force” had been involved in firing at the police, and that multiple clashes had broken out across the province.
The minister accused the former ruling party of deliberately fostering a “politics of violence,” aiming to ignite a “politics of dead bodies.” She highlighted that despite the ongoing violence, the state had shown remarkable restraint, with police officers remaining unarmed as per the orders of the Punjab chief minister.
