UMERKOT: Polling for the by-election in the National Assembly constituency NA-213 in Umerkot has begun, following the delivery of election materials.
The polling process will continue without interruption until 5 PM.
In this constituency, 18 candidates are contesting, including the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) candidate Saba Talpur and the candidate supported by the Grand Democratic Alliance (GDA), Lal Chand Malhi. This seat became vacant after the passing of PPP leader Nawab Yusuf Talpur.
A tough contest is expected between PPP’s Saba Talpur and PTI’s Lal Chand Malhi.
There are a total of 498 polling stations in the constituency, of which 269 have been classified as sensitive and 91 as highly sensitive.
The total number of voters in this constituency is 609,010.
In view of the by-election, a public holiday has been declared today in the Umerkot district.
