Power Protest: PTI Workers storm Grid Station in Peshawar

Peshawar (May 26, 2017): Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) workers led by a member of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly of the party on Friday stormed a grid station during protest against prolonged and unannounced load shedding in their area.

The protesting workers headed by PTI MPA Fazal Elahi forced their way into the grid station. They forcefully opened Hazaar Khawani grid station, which provides electricity to 200 villages in Peshawar.

The protesters chanted slogans against the federal government and WAPDA for long hours load shedding in the sizzling heat.

The MPA told media that Peshawar Electricity Supply Company (PESCO) had promised to end the prolonged and unannounced load shedding in their area. Instead of fulfilling the promise, the power utility is subjecting the areas to upto 20 hours load shedding.

They also chanted slogans of ‘Go Nawaz Go’ inside the grid station.

It is to be mentioned here that on May 17, charged PTI workers led by the party’s MNA from South Waziristan, Ayesha Gulalai Wazir, and local district leadership, stormed the WAPDA House in Peshawar during their protest against power cuts.
