LAHORE: In a landmark move toward environmentally friendly transport, Maryam Nawaz Sharif introduced Punjab’s first-ever electric taxi initiative on February 26, 2026.
Launched under the provincial government’s long-term mobility reforms, the scheme begins with 1,100 electric taxis, initially operating in Lahore.
The initiative is designed to cut carbon emissions, create job opportunities, and modernize public transport through electric vehicle (EV) adoption.
