Islamabad:Supreme Court has asked opinion from provincial governments, speakers of provincial assemblies, speaker National Assembly, Chairman Senate and Election Commission of Pakistan to hold senate elections through open ballot via serving notices to all.
The SC larger five-member bench in chair of Chief Justice Of Pakistan Justice Gulzar Ahmed heard presidential reference to hold the senate elections through open ballot.
Justice Musheer Alam, Justice Umar Atta Bandial, Justice Aijaz Ul Hassan and Justice Yahya Afridi are other members of the bench.
The top court after initial hearing issued notices to all four provincial governments, all four speakers of provincial assemblies, speaker National Assembly and Chairman Senate.
The SC has also issued notice to Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) while the court ordered that if any one wants to give its opinion on the matter then public notice should be published adding that anyone wanted to give his or her opinion should submit it within two weeks.
