Islamabad: Supreme Court (SC) has summoned a time frame of reconstruction of Karak temple in the case pertaining to the rights of minorities.
A three-member bench headed by Chief Justice Gulzar Ahmed heard the suo motu notice regarding destroying of a temple in Karak. The bench asked that as many as 119 people were arrested in the demolition of the temple but no any money recovered so far.
Justice Aijaz Ul Ahsan said that if money for damages of the temple were recovered once then the next time people will not thing about damaging the worship places of the minorities next time.
Additional Advocate General KP apprised the court the the provincial government has allocated Rs 34.6 million for reconstruction of the temple.
On the occasion the chief justice ordered that the construction of the temple must be started immediately.
During the course of the hearing Additional Attorney General raised occupation of 14 properties belonged Evacuee Trust Property Board, to which, the CJ remarked that all the properties of Evacuee Trust Property Board have been given on lease and some to someone for constant basis. The CJ ordered that the properties of Evacuee Trust Property Board can’t be given to any body.
During the hearing, Chief of the Minority Commission, Shoaib Suddle complained about Evacuee Trust Property Board and Ramesh Kumar regarding non cooperation of District administration in holding of the holy festival in the Parlab temple. On which, the CJ called Chairman of Evacuee Trust Property Board on the next hearing while the CJ directed the IG Punjab and Chief Secretary Punjab to provide security on the occasion of the holly festival at the Parlab temple.
The hearing of the case will be held on the next Saturday.
