QUETTA: Security forces in Balochistan’s Dhadar area thwarted a militant attack late Saturday, killing several attackers during a swift response operation, officials said.
According to Balochistan Interior Assistant Babar Yousafzai, the assailants attempted to strike under the cover of darkness, but troops already deployed in the area quickly engaged them and neutralized multiple militants. He added that a clearance and search operation has been launched to secure the region.
During the exchange of fire, one security personnel was martyred. Authorities said the fallen soldier showed bravery in defending the area against the attackers.
Yousafzai praised the timely action of security forces, stating that their rapid response prevented a larger tragedy. He also said that efforts to destabilize the region would continue to be countered effectively.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed grief over the martyrdom of the security personnel, paying tribute to his sacrifice and offering condolences to the bereaved family. He reiterated the government’s resolve to continue the fight against terrorism.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi also commended the security forces, including police and CTD units, for their swift and effective response, saying their action foiled the attack and eliminated multiple militants, demonstrating professionalism and courage in the line of duty.
