KARACHI: The first phase of the country’s largest biogas plant project, located in Super Highway Gadap, has been completed. The plant will produce 8 tons of gas daily, which can generate 4 megawatts of electricity.
Speaking at the event, Special Advisor to the Chief Minister of Sindh for Investment, Qasim Naveed, stated that the Sindh government will provide an interest-free amount for this project, and the provincial government has also facilitated the acquisition of a loan from the bank, which will enable the production of up to 5 megawatts of electricity.
Qasim Naveed said that this is an environmentally friendly project with long-term positive effects.
The CEO of the private company explained that there will no longer be a heavy waste of water for cleaning cow dung at dairy farms. He further mentioned that large quantities of dung will be brought to the plant daily, and the gas produced will be cheaper than LNG. Discussions are ongoing with various buyers.
