Sindh govt to appoint 2,000 ASI to strengthen investigation units

KARACHI: In order to enhance the investigative capabilities of police force, Sindh government has decided to appoint 2,000 Assistant Sub-Inspectors (ASI) across the province

The decision was taken during service structure committee meeting which was chaired by Chief Secretary Asif Haider Shah and attended by Additional Chief Secretary Home, IG Sindh Ghulam Nabi Memon, Secretary Finance, Secretary Services, and other senior officers and officials.

In addition, the committee also approved the transfer of 1,038 police personnel from non-investigation units to investigation units in Karachi. This structural change includes 2 Senior Superintendents of Police (SPs), 17 Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs), 114 Inspectors, 308 Sub-Inspectors, and 587 Constables, who will now be part of Karachi Range’s Investigation Units. This move aims to strengthen crime detection and law enforcement efforts.

During the meeting Chief Secretary Asif Haider Shah emphasized that strengthening police investigations was crucial for effective crime control and law enforcement. He stated that the recruitment of investigation officers will significantly improve the quality of police investigations.

IG Sindh Ghulam Nabi Memon also highlighted the importance of this initiative by stating that better investigative procedures will ensure swift justice and a more efficient crackdown on criminal elements
