KARACHI: Police have taken a man into custody in connection with the harassment of a woman in Karachi’s Korangi neighborhood.
Officials said the incident took place a few days ago in Korangi No. 6, Sector 51-B, where a motorcyclist allegedly harassed a woman in public. Following the circulation of a video on social media, police launched an investigation and tracked down the suspect using CCTV footage.
Authorities from Awami Colony Police Station identified the accused as Muhammad Danish. Police stated that he attempted to avoid arrest by altering his appearance, including changing his beard and facial look, but was eventually detained during a targeted raid.
Despite the arrest, police said no official complaint has yet been filed by the victim. They added that legal action and formal registration of the case will proceed once a complaint is submitted.
In a separate incident reported in October 2023, police arrested the principal of a private school in Karachi’s Saudabad area over allegations of harassing female students.
According to SSP Korangi, the accused, identified as Azam, was allegedly involved in inappropriate behavior toward 10th-grade students. The arrest was made after the father of one of the students lodged a complaint, prompting immediate police action.
