U.S. Secretary of State contacts political and military leadership, urges de-escalation.

WASHINGTON: U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio spoke with Pakistan’s Army Chief General Asim Munir on Friday and urged both Pakistan and India to find ways to de-escalate, a U.S. Department Of State spokesperson said.

Rubio also offered U.S. assistance in starting constructive talks in order to avoid future conflicts, the spokesperson said.

U.S. State Department spokesperson Tammy Bruce also confirmed that Secretary of State Marco Rubio spoke with Pakistani Army Chief General Asim Munir via telephone.

Tammy Bruce stated that, Marco Rubio urged both sides to find ways to reduce tensions and offered assistance in facilitating constructive negotiations to prevent future conflicts.

Additionally, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio also contacted Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, urging patience and restraint regarding the recent escalation of tensions with India.
