190 million pound case: No chance of Imran Khan’s conviction appeal being scheduled in 2025

ISLAMABAD: Appeal against Imran Khan, in 190 million pound case has no chance of being scheduled in Islamabad High Court this year.

In a statement issued by the Registrar’s Office of Islamabad High Court, it was stated that appeals against sentences will only be scheduled for hearing under their respective numbers.

The Registrar’s Office has submitted a written report to the Islamabad High Court regarding the scheduling of Imran Khan’s appeal, which states that there is no possibility of the appeal being scheduled this year in the 190 million pound case.

The report mentions that, according to decisions made by the National Judicial Policy-Making Committee, a fixation policy has been established, and pending cases and appeals will be disposed of accordingly.

It is further stated in the report that currently, there are 279 pending appeals against convicted individuals in Islamabad High Court.

These include 63 appeals against the death sentence, 73 against life imprisonment, 88 against sentences of more than seven years, and 55 against sentences of less than seven years. The oldest pending appeal against the death sentence dates back to 2017. Appeals are scheduled for hearing in turn after their respective filings.

The report submitted to Islamabad High Court also notes that Imran Khan’s appeal against his 14-year sentence was filed on January 31, 2025. Currently, his appeal is at the motion stage, meaning that first the paper books will be prepared, and then it will be scheduled under its respective number.

The Registrar’s Office further states that, according to directives from the National Judicial Policy-Making Committee, it is unlikely that Imran Khan’s appeal will be scheduled in 2025.
