DUBAI: In the match, held at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, India defeated New Zealand by 4 wickets in final ICC Champions Trophy and become the Champion for 3rd time.
New Zealand’s captain Mitchell Santner won the toss and chose to bat first. New Zealand scored 251 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in their allotted 50 overs.
The Kiwi team lost their first wicket at 57 runs when Will Young was dismissed by Varun Chakravarthy. At 69 runs, opener Rachin Ravindra was dismissed by spinner Kuldeep Yadav, and at a total score of 75, Kuldeep Yadav took the wicket of Kane Williamson.
New Zealand’s fourth wicket fell at 165 runs when Tom Latham was dismissed by Ravindra Jadeja. The fifth wicket fell at 165 runs as well when Glenn Phillips was dismissed for 34 runs off a ball from Varun Chakravarthy.

During the toss, New Zealand’s captain Mitchell Santner mentioned that bowler Matt Henry was injured and would not play in the final. He said, “Unfortunately, Matt Henry is not playing in today’s match. Nathan Smith is replacing him.”
Mitchell Santner also said, “As expected, a large number of Indian fans are present in the stadium. The pitch looks good, similar to the one in the previous match against India.”
Indian cricket team captain Rohit Sharma stated, “New Zealand is a very good team, and batting second doesn’t make a difference. We have batted and bowled here before. We had discussed in the dressing room not to worry about the toss and just focus on playing well.”
