Court approves Imran Khan’s Polygraph test, written order issued

LAHORE: The Anti-Terrorism Court Lahore has issued a written order allowing Imran Khan, the founder of PTI, to undergo a polygraph test in the May 9 Lahore cases.

Judge Manzar Ali Gul of the ATC Lahore issued a six-page written decision, stating that the court has directed the investigating officer to complete the polygraph, photogrammetric, and WhatsApp matching tests by May 26.

Superintendent of Adiala Jail has been instructed to make all arrangements for the tests within the jail premises.

The decision mentioned that the polygraph and voice matching tests could benefit both the defendant and the prosecution. These tests are considered helpful in determining the truth of the allegations against Imran Khan and will serve as a sincere effort to distinguish valuable evidence from irrelevant ones. The investigating officers will reach accurate conclusions based on the results of these tests.

According to the written order, Imran Khan’s lawyer raised objections, noting that the request for tests was filed after 727 days. The prosecution stated that they had approached multiple courts for his physical remand and polygraph tests.

The decision further stated that Imran Khan’s lawyer claimed the prosecution filed 12 requests of similar nature for the tests, which indicates they were trying to delay the process. Following observations by the Supreme Court, the investigating officer finally submitted the application for the tests.

The ATC Lahore also sent two notices to Imran Khan through the superintendent of Adiala Jail. However, Imran Khan refused to accept the notices regarding the tests. According to the prosecution, the tests are needed to gather evidence related to Imran Khan. The investigating officer is expected to submit a report at the next hearing.
