Israel targets Gaza dialysis center amid rising outrage over GHF killings

GAZA: Israeli airstrikes severely impacted Gaza’s health infrastructure, including the destruction of the territory’s only kidney dialysis centre in northern Gaza.

The escalation in violence has resulted in the deaths of more than 54 Palestinians in the past 48 hours, according to Gaza’s Health Ministry.

Among the casualties are 31 individuals shot dead near an aid distribution site in Rafah, where witnesses describe chaotic scenes of Israeli forces firing on crowds awaiting food.

Medical charity Doctors Without Borders (MSF) reported that patients at Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis described being “shot from all sides” by drones, tanks, and helicopters.

The ongoing violence has also targeted aid efforts, with the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF)—a US-backed initiative replacing the longstanding UN-led coordination—facing criticism for alleged Israeli military influence and lack of accountability.

The UN has refused to collaborate with the GHF, and UNRWA head Philippe Lazzarini warned that “aid distribution in Gaza has become a death trap.”

The death toll from Israel’s military operations in Gaza has surpassed 61,700, with thousands believed to be trapped under rubble. The UN warns of an imminent famine, with aid agencies describing Gaza as “the hungriest place on earth.”
