PM orders to complete construction of Diamer-Bhasha Dam on priority basis

Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has directed that projects like Diamer-Bhasha Dam should be completed on a priority basis to establish an effective system for abundant water storage and energy production in the country.

Chairing a meeting in Islamabad today regarding Diamer-Bhasha Dam and other water reservoirs, the premier instructed that all obstacles in the way of constructing Diamer-Bhasha Dam must be addressed immediately to ensure its early completion.

The Prime Minister emphasized that the construction of new dams is essential for increasing water storage capacity, ensuring sufficient water supply for agriculture and preventing floods.

He noted that our economic self-reliance depends on affordable electricity and agriculture. For this, we must enhance water storage and ensure its efficient utilization.

The meeting was attended by federal ministers Ahsan Iqbal, Engineer Amir Muqam, Azam Nazeer Tarar, and Moeen Wattoo, Adviser to Prime Minister Rana Sanaullah, Chief Minister of Gilgit-Baltistan Gulbar Khan, and relevant senior government officials.
