Web Desk: President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif have stressed to create awareness on responsible parenthood and family planning to tackle the challenge of population growth.
In his message on World Population Day today, the President said stressed the role of communities, including media and civil society, to create awareness on responsible parenthood and family planning to tackle the challenge of population growth.
He said that the World Population Day is an opportunity to reflect Government’s commitment to ensuring the well-being and prosperity of all citizens.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said the government is fully committed to a comprehensive, rights-based population agenda.
In his message on World Population Day, he said we are focused on ensuring equitable access to healthcare, promoting informed family planning, and strengthening systems that allow individuals to make choices about their future with dignity and autonomy. He said these efforts are fully aligned with Pakistan’s commitments under the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Family Planning 2030 targets.
He stressed that achieving population stabilization requires a coordinated and multi-sectoral approach.
He called upon all stakeholders, federal and provincial governments, development partners, civil society, the private sector, religious leaders and local communities to reaffirm their collective responsibility to overcoming population issues, paving the way for a healthier and more prosperous future for Pakistan.
