Islamabad: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has directed a reform process to improve the performance of ministries.
He was chairing a meeting in Islamabad on Friday, during which the Ministry of Power gave a detailed briefing on the expert driven system for improving governance and implementing reforms.
The Prime Minister emphasized that without aligning the outdated system with modern requirements, Pakistan’s economic development is not possible.
He said modernizing and digitizing the governance structure by replacing the obsolete system is among the government’s top priorities.
The Prime Minister stressed the importance of seeking assistance from internationally renowned experts to bring about systemic change.
He said reforms in the Ministry of Power, reduction in its losses and savings of billions for the national exchequer serve as a model for other ministries.
The Prime Minister directed the formation of a committee to propose the recruitment of best workforce, align ministries with modern systems and improve governance through reforms.
The committee will finalize actionable proposals for the restructuring of other ministries and departments keeping in view the reforms of the Ministry of Power.
