Pakistan to face South Africa in WCL 2025 final tonight at Edgbaston

BIRMINGHAM – The grand finale of the World Championship of Legends (WCL) 2025 will see Pakistan Champions square off against South Africa Champions today at Edgbaston Stadium, Birmingham. The much-anticipated clash is set to begin at 8:30 PM PST.

Pakistan Champions head into the final with an unblemished record, having dominated the group stage and securing their spot in the decider after India Champions withdrew from their scheduled semi-final.

In a disappointing turn for fans, veteran all-rounder Shahid Afridi has confirmed he will miss the final due to medical advice. Speaking at a press conference in Manchester, Afridi said, “Doctors have advised me to rest, so unfortunately, I won’t be part of the final. I really wanted to play, especially if that semi-final against India had taken place.”

Afridi also hinted that he might have made a return for the high-voltage India clash, had it occurred. “My heart wanted to be there. Maybe I would’ve pushed through the pain for that match,” he added.

Pakistan progressed to the final following India Champions’ withdrawal from the semi-final. The decision, announced via the official WCL Facebook page, was met with mixed reactions.

The league addressed the development in a public statement: “At WCL, we’ve always upheld the belief that sport has the power to unite and inspire. But we also recognize the importance of honoring public sentiment — everything we do is ultimately for our fans.”

With the final stage set and both teams ready, cricket fans around the world are eager to witness which side will lift the WCL 2025 trophy tonight in Birmingham.
