Ashab Irfan of Pakistan wins vancouver men’s open 2025, secures maiden PSA title

VANCOUVER: Pakistani squash player Ashab Irfan, aged 21, has claimed his first PSA World Tour victory by winning the Richardson Wealth Men’s Vancouver Open 2025, defeating England’s Sam Todd in the final.

Seeded fourth, Ashab delivered an impressive performance in the 43-minute match, defeating Todd, who was seeded sixth, with straight games—11-9, 11-1, and 11-5. The win marked a significant achievement in his professional career.The tournament, a PSA World Tour Copper event, offered a total prize fund of $31,250. 

This triumph represents a major breakthrough for the young Pakistani athlete, who, along with compatriot Noor Zaman, continues to show promising progress on the international squash scene. Out of 24 players competing, two Pakistani players participated, with Zaman, seeded third, reaching the quarterfinals but falling to Todd in a hard-fought 2-3 match.

Ashab’s victory not only highlights his rising stature but also signals a bright future for Pakistan’s squash prospects.
